Busy Indians Turn To Apps For Healthcare Advice



With Rs 1 Crore revenues the startup, presently charges between Rs 250 to 5,000 for doctors consultation and has set up a client base of 10,000 around the world. This rapid growth is now catching the attention of investors towards these ventures as they present themselves as solutions to the lack of quality healthcare situations in the smaller towns and cities. Rajesh Raju, managing director of Kalaari Capital, a Bangalore-based venture capital firm said, “We are excited about these ventures. There are about 8 to 10 companies in this space now,” as reported by ET Bureau.
 
‘eHealth Access’ a Hyderabad based company provides web based healthcare services to MNCs like Hartex and HCL is testing an Android-based mobile health application which is currently in the pipeline to be launched next month. As per the consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, India has just 59 doctors for every thousand people in the country. It is estimated to be the lowest when compared with the emerging economies globally.
However when it comes to adopting mobile healthcare services India ranks second highest. Akhilesh Tuteja, KPMG executive director said, “The advantage is that apps and web services simply the whole process. It's a young space as of now, but there is a huge opportunity for startups,” as reported by ET Bureau. The quick access to healthcare services on mobile apps will keep many from being apprehensive about health concerns, it could also help track diseases at an early stage and as for the hypochondriacs, let’s say they could have a field day, with these services.
