A Year Into Windows 8: The 10 Biggest Mistakes

#4 Misguided marketing

The first ad for Windows 8 tablets had bunch of school girls singing, dancing, clicking with their Surface RTs, ironically, that wasn't an ad for Windows 8 at all. The ad failed to deliver a clear, coherent, consistent message about why consumers should care about Windows 8.

#3 Consumer confusion

Windows 8 differed from Windows 7 on many accounts, and so there was a learning curve before you could use the new OS to the fullest. Throughout the preview process and even when Windows 8 was released in October last year, Microsoft did not put any online help or orientation for the new users.

However with the preview of the Start screen of Windows 8.1 shows a placeholder tile for a new Help & Tips app, hope it will ease the learning curve.
