'Ultrabooks' to Fuel a New Computing Era for Intel 2012

Bangalore: More than 75 Ultrabooks from various manufacturers including Asus, Samsung LG and Acer will hit the market this year as Intel plans to revolutionize the future of laptop market with its ultra thin, ultra fast, voice recognizing Ultrabook.

At the ongoing CES in Las Vegas, Intel announced its vast plans to promote the Ultrabook starting with a $300 million fund to support the manufacturers for development. Intel will also launch a big marketing campaign in April through TV, print, outdoor ads and social networks.

Intel coined the idea of Ultrabooks in May 2011, inspired by the Apples range of superthin, high performance laptops. The Ultra Responsive books will be powered by Intels third generation core chip “Ivy Bridge” with powerful computing and graphics abilities. Intel has set some parameters to these Ultra stylish books which will have features like thickness below 18 millimeters, super fast boot time, robust battery life and a pricing below $1000.

According to Mooly Eden, GM of Intels PC client group, Intel is working towards creating a unique uninterrupted “flow” of user experiences in their Ultrabooks. “With Ultrabooks, user will be able to create, not just read. They can work in an unwired way without wait”. He also announced a partnership with Nuance, for integrating their voice recognition technology in Ultrabooks. Intel also plans on coordinating short range gesture recognition in future platform.

Previous year, a research from HIS iSuppli had predicted that by 2015, 40 percent of notebook PCs will be Intel branded Ultrabooks.
