Bangalore: Intel capital launches Ultrabook fund that focuses on the start-ups those work on technologies and are following the Intel concept of next generation notebooks. In coming years the company is planning to spend around 1, 345.29 Crore on innovating new features for ultrabooks. The features like sensors and batteries will be enhanced by improving the quality. The thinner and smaller versions will be introduced to make it more handy and portable. Intel is facing pressures as the next generation of ARM-based mobile systems will be using Microsoft Windows 8. The objective of Ultrabook is to bring out a thin and light notebook with tablet features like a touchscreen. The announcement about the Ultrabook was done at the right time as Taiwan's notebook makers are working on both Intel ultrabooks and on ARM-based mobile systems. Microsoft is likely to release the windows 8 version for Qualcomm's Snapdragon, Nvidia's Tegra and Texas Instrument's Omap processors. This is for the first time that windows will run on non-x86 processors. With this Ultrabook fund "a company thinking about building some extensions of Windows 8 on ARM might instead focus on Windows 8 on x86 and minimize what they are doing on ARM," said Brookwood, principal of market watcher Insight64. Intel has set the goal that the Ultrabook will be released in another two years. Late this year, first generation ultrabooks are expected to ship out using Intel's Sandy Bridge processors powering systems that are less than 21mm (0.8inch) thick at mainstream prices," Intel said.
