Bangalore: Nokia, one of the world's largest handset makers have decided to rebrand its 'Ovi' store to 'Nokia services' right before the global marketing strategies are discussed in July. The rebranding of the apps store is to keep Nokia customers intact, once the company merges with Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system next year for its future phones. The internet service, Ovi was introduced for the first time by Nokia at the 'Nokia Go Play' event in London on August 2007. The word "Ovi" means "door" in Finnish hence Ovi opens the gateway for the consumers to experience rich entertainment and apps. The Nokia Ovi Suite offer services related to maps, music and games. Although Nokia has planned to give a new look to its Ovi services, there will be minimal difference as far as functionality of the service is concerned. The company assured that the name change will not disrupt in the services and theoretically Ovi maps will become Nokia map, but the usage of Nokia services will definitely be more informative for first time users. 'Nokia services' logo will be made available to users through software updates in July. Nokia's CMO, Jerri DeVard said that by centralising its services identity under one brand, it will reinforce the powerful master brand of Nokia and unify the brand architecture. According to branding agency Millward Brown the value of the Nokia brand fell 28 percent last year to $10.7 billion.
