The Office 365 mainly works under an array of software based subscriptions that requires a certain payment scheme towards the Microsoft Corporation. Although announced in 2010, the service was made officially available to the public on 2011.

The Office 365 is primarily encompassed of different cloud service products such as Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft SharePoint Online, Microsoft Lync Online, Office Professional Plus and Office Web Apps. These products offer different services that ranges from collaboration, sharing, and document editing service to presence information, instant messaging, PC-to-PC audio-video calling and online meetings. The web apps are browser-based versions of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint that enable viewing and lightweight editing of Office documents in Web browsers while preserving the formatting of the original documents.
