7 Indian Tech Startups Acquired By Global Players

Following in the heels of Facebook’s acquisition of Little-Eye-Labs, Google added Impermium, a startup with Indian pedigree into its assets this month. The firm is into cyber security space helping companies protect themselves from spam, fraud, and abuse. No further details regarding the deal on the startup founded in 2010 was available. The three year old firm received its series of funding worth $9 million from venture capitalist firms including Accel Partners, AOL Ventures, Charles River Ventures and Highland Capital Partners. Impermium claims of a rich client base scoring 3 million including Tumblr, Pinterest, CNN, ESPN, Typepad and Washington Post.

#3 Redbus by ibibo group

The 800 crore deal between Redbus and ibibo group is regarded to be the largest overseas strategic acquisition of an Indian internet venture. The bus ticketing service was acquired in June 2013 and the Indian startup sold their stake in the venture to the Ibibo Group. Redbus received its fundings from SeedFund, Kanwal Rekhi's Inventus, and Helion Ventures estimated an enterprise value of Rs 600-700 crore, which ibibo, a subsidiary of South Africa's Naspers later bagged.
