Arun Majumdhar
Arun Majumdhar, an IIT Graduate from Bombay was appointed to the Bureaucrat at energy department for the post ‘Under Secretary of Energy’, in the beginning of the current year.
In September 2009, Arun was appointed as the Director of the US Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects. Prior to this Arun worked as a Professor of mechanical engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He also served as an Associate Laboratory Director for Energy and Environment at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
Arun has also been a part of the advisory committee of the National Science Foundation's engineering directorate and the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
Arun’s targeted areas in his research career were science and engineering of energy conversion, transport and storage in which he worked from nano scale level to large scale energy systems. In the year 2005, he was selected as a member of the National Academy of Engineering
