The visuals, the sets, the acting, the dancing and the haunting music. If the movie took nine years to make but it surely didn’t disappoint. This mobile became such a classic that when the colored technology came in this movie was chosen to be remade in colour.  But the real movie lover would like to think of this movie in its black and white version, the  grandness of the sets, the actors, costumes, the dialogues all seemed better in the black and white version.

Madhubala’s lopsided smile and dancing eyes captured every heart with her portrayal of Anarkali who wins the heart of the Princess, Salim (Dilip Kumar). But because of her status of a courtesan Akbar gets enraged and sentences her to death but with a change of heart Akbar asks her to leave the kingdom and never return to Salim again.

The haunting rebellious song Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya by Naushad has become a classic and in the original black and white movie this was the only sequence shot in colour. This colored song left everyone wishing the whole movie was shot in colour.
