#5 Telephones won’t go Mainstream

It’s a known fact that telephone has revolutionized the means of communication. But in its earlier stage Western Union’s President William Ortan told Alexander Graham Bell in 1876 when the latter tried to sell his invention to the company that Telephones has so many shortcomings to be considered as a means of communication. Later the Western Union themselves had set up their phone company and was sued by Graham Bell for patent infringement.

#4 Internet will collapse by 1996

Among all the predictions these predictions can be considered as one of the worst predictions ever made. Robert Metcalfe, the inventor of the Ethernet and founder of 3Com predicted that internet will face a catastrophic collapse by 1996. But his predictions have gone far from accurate as the World Wide Web continues to grow and drive changes across the globe.
