#4 Nur Muhammed Shafiullah

Age: 15

Nur Muhammed Shafiullah is the youngest student from Bangladesh to compete in the International Mathematical Olympiad and International Olympiad in Informatics.

In 2012, young Muhammed received a bronze medal in the International Mathematical Olympiad in Argentina. He had also secured the highest score in math at the Bangladesh mathematical Olympiad for three consecutive years.

Besides these math competitions, the 15 year old works in math camps in Bangladesh and is the moderator of the Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad’s online forum for students.

Muhammed plans to apply in colleges abroad after graduating high school next year. He is interested to develop more skills in the field of computers and biology.

 

#3 Kensen Shi

Age: 17 years

Kensen Shi is a 17 year old senior at A&M consolidated High school in College Station, Texas.

Back in 2012, he won the top individual Prize for Math, Science and Technology. He has co-authored a research paper introducing his winning project called Lazy Toggle PRM – a more efficient method of motion planning, with number of uses in robotics, animation and game design.

At the Intel Talent Search in 2013, Shi won the 6th place. He has also competed in a number of US mathematical Olympiads and is a musical artist as well. He is a passionate pianist and has won the National Piano Audition twice from the National Guild of Piano Teachers.

With a bundle of talent involved, Shi plans to major in Computer Sciences at Stanford University.
