Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
I belong to a middle class family, born in Kolkata. My father is a government employee and mother is a house wife. We are two siblings. My brother did MBA and currently working in Travel and Tourism sector. My grandfather was an electronics engineer and he worked with Airport Authority.
Degrees That Matter:
I am planning for a 1 year executive MBA from prestigious US/UK university. After 5 years of experience, a MBA degree is essential to be a better manager. Foreign MBA degrees are mostly practical oriented and I expect I will get good exposure of business knowledge. I will also explore new things.
Advice For New Professionals:
Learn from you seniors as much as possible. Pay respect to them. I would request them not to indulge themselves into any unhealthy competition. Do your best without harming others. Be a good person, rather than just being technically/functionally strong. Make your workplace a healthy place.
Career Profile:
My previous profile was software developer. But currently I am working as a Team Lead. I got new responsibilities such as mentoring juniors, helping them and performing my usual tasks also. I also create designs for my projects and also estimates for that design to implement.
Role Model:
My role model is my grandfather. He was my first teacher. My grandfather religiously taught me every lesson. He was a complete package of knowledge and intelligence. He always inspired me regarding my career. I truly admit that only because of him I am here in my professional career.
Required Reading:
Acquiring knowledge are always helpful sometime or the other. We should always learn, so it does not make a difference for me whether I learn from Book, website or some Publications. Business magazines are all always good source of information of current business industry.
Growth Strategy:
I am planning for MBA for a formal degree. I have keen interest to go abroad to get good business exposure. I want to work with business leaders to get practical knowledge. I also learning from people with whom I am working with like how my manager deals with an issue? How others might deal with it?
Other Thoughts:
I got married 2 months ago. Thus I am juggling office and home. My husband and I, both are IT professionals. My mother-in-law is very supportive regarding my career and my profession. She is also a house-wife but she understands me. I am really lucky that I got such a wonderful new family.
Job Profile:
I work as a Team Lead for my project.My project is a development of the banking product.I did the designing of few modules.I also created estimates regarding the work to be implemented.I helped my juniors to understand the essence of the work. I interact with clients in case of any issues faced.
Plans For The Future:
I want to see myself as a manager of a leading company who will lead a highly productive team. I will create a healthy workplace environment with healthy competition without politics. I will always encourage by sub ordinates to do something innovative and useful for my company and my clients.
Working Life Management:
I juggle my office and home. At home I become a perfect housewife who does household chores and at office I become perfect professional. After marriage I usually do not work after office works unless it is an emergency.
Prized Accomplishment(s):
I joined Company in the year Feb,2010 as a junior software developer.Within 6 months, I have been given the responsibility of the Team Lead. In next promotion cycle,I have been awarded with the highest rating,followed by an official promotion Team Lead.That very year,I also got an Applause award.
