3. Digital Audio Tape

Another product developed by Sony, Digital audio Tape was introduced in 1987; it was look alike to a compact cassette, used to record sound digitally. It was enclosed with a magnetic tape in a protective shell.

The idea was to replace audio cassettes but unfortunately the idea was rejected by consumers. It was too expensive and several music companies put their concern over the matter of piracy in the form of unauthorized digital copies.

4. Cinerama

The concept was first introduced in 1950, when the movie industry was facing competition from television. The process involved a widescreen with simultaneously projecting images from three synchronized 35 mm projectors onto a giant screen.

It had severe maintaining issues like the use of zoom lenses was a tedious job as three images simultaneously couldn’t synchronize, moreover there were picture quality issues as the scene was visible only to a particular distance.
