BANGALORE: The growth in digital technology has literally masked the distinct factor of a hoax through pranks and TV gags. It is so difficult that only experts can make out the differences in them. So here are some of the biggest hoaxes that made an impact in the tech history, as compiled by Info World.

# Good times Virus: The Good times virus was a computer virus hoax that went viral over the internet in 1994. Warnings about the virus were passed over which said that the email bearing the “Good Times” should never be opened.  Apparently, the virus did not exist but the warnings which were sent over internet were the viruses.

# Nylon Color Tv: The Nylon Color TV was a prank done on the April fool’s day in 1962. The Swedish National television had put up a 5 minute commercial on how one could change a black and white TV into a colored one just by placing a nylon stocking in front of it and adding a physics description behind it. Thousands of viewers fell for the hoax trick creating a revolution for the nylon stocks.
