Samsung Successfully Bans iPhone Import In The U.S.

Bangalore: Finally Samsung has a victory against Apple in their home turf. The US trade agency has issued a notice to ban the imports of some older devices from Apple, which includes iPhone 4 and a variant of the iPad 2 after finding the devices has violated a patent held by the South Korean rival.

Since Apples' products are assembled in China and then imported by U.S., this ban would mean Apple would lose its ability to sell its older models which are still in huge demand in U.S.

The import ban order is subject to 60 day review period by President Barack Obama, he can overturn it on public-policy grounds but depends on the type of patent at issue in this case. Even the White House, earlier had issued a recommendation to Congress, that it limit the U.S. International Trade Commission's ability to impose import bans in these cases.

However, Apple can keep selling their devices during the 60-day review period.

This is not the first time Apple and Samsung fighting on patent rights. Last year Apple won a $1 billion verdict against South Korean company, since Samsung’s devices copied the look and unique features of the iPhone and iPad.

Together, Apple and Samsung make about half the Smartphones sold in the world. Samsung is the largest, while Apple dominates in the U.S.
