Bangalore: An enormous floating barge sighted in San Francisco Bay a week ago put media world into frenzy. Speculations about it being built by Google for its data centers which can use sea water for cooling hit headlines around the globe. Finally after all this hullabaloo, the Search Giant has stepped forward and acknowledged that it is behind the mystery barges. However on contrary to the earlier speculations, the barges will be a showcase place for Google’s technology.

In a statement released Wednesday, Google said, "Google Barge! A floating data center? A wild party boat? A barge housing the last remaining dinosaur? Sadly, none of the above. Although it's still early days and things may change, we're exploring using the barge as an interactive space where people can learn about new technology."
