iRobot Corporation is an American advanced technology company founded in 1990 by the MIT students, Colin Angle and Helen Greiner, and an MIT professor, Rodney BrooksIt. The trio used to work together at MIT’s Artificial Intelligence Lab.

The company designs and manufactures robots such as an autonomous home vacuum cleaner, the Scooba that scrubs and cleans hard floors, and military and police robots, such as the PackBot.

iRobot has sold over 10 million home robots and delivered 5,000-plus defense & security robots internationally.

Danny Lewin was the co-founder of Akamai Technologies, an Internet routing and security company. In 1996, he joined MIT as a Ph.D student, where he met applied mathematics professor F. Thomson Leighton, along with whom he came up with innovative algorithms for optimizing Internet traffic.

Thus, co-founded Akamai in 1998, Akamai's network is one of the world's largest distributed-computing platforms, responsible for serving between 15 and 30 percent of all web traffic.
