6 Worst Acquisitions in Apple's History

#4.PowerSchool

Apple bought PowerSchool in March 2001, the leading provider of web-based student information systems for K-12 schools and school districts. It gives school administrators and teachers the ability to easily manage student records and gives parents real-time access to track their children’s progress. The PowerSchool student information system has been selected by 2,000 schools nationwide.

But there was no much profit for Apple and PowerSchool did not help Apple by selling Macs.  Apple sold PowerSchool to Pearson Education in 2006 to enhance teaching and learning through technology.

#5.Placebase

Apple bought Placebase in 2009, which is a mapping service; it certainly seemed that Apple was planning to possibly replace Google as the source of that data in iOS. Three years later, Apple revealed iOS 6 and Apple Maps. Though Apple's own Maps app relied on Google's mapping services. Despite these rumors, Apple had extended its agreement with Google.

#6.NetSelector

Apple bought NetSelector in 2000, a developer of software that allows parents and teachers to control what their children see and do on the Internet. Netselector differed from other filters by not blocking all of inappropriate sites on the web. However most found the software more limiting than useful and most schools instituted School wide traditional filters.
