10 Companies That Use More H-1B Visas


Wipro: The Indian based software and services company had bagged about 4000 visas in 2012 but saw a declined for fiscal year 2013 with about 2600 visa holders. Along with TCS and Infosys, Wipro was also accused for abusing the H-1B facility. Congressmen Senator Durbin has called the companies as outsourcing firms and also voiced out to U.S based companies that they are not getting the benefit of this Act but instead are being issued to Indian outsourcing companies.

HCL America: With over 2000 H-1B permit visas in 2012, HCL bagged only about 1700 holders for fiscal year 2013. HCL lost a bid back in 2006 to bring in 75 software workers for $11.88 per hour. The company has seen in immigrated workers. It is being seen as a loss for the country rather than the companies. The Department of Labor has been checking into cheap labor, but believes this is not the only problem.

IBM: The Company stands at no.7 who gained from the H-1B program. They have about 1300 visa holders. IBM has also seen problems with the U.S. government over the act. IBM reached a settlement over an allegation of online posting of jobs for foreign students holding the H-1B visa for their software and apps opening. The company agreed to pay $44,400 as civil penalties and also take new measures in the way they hire within the country.
