Raleigh, N.C.-based Precision Hawk has in-flight mapping and tracking software for drones.  They are enhancing its LATAS (Low Altitude Tracking and Avoidance System) as a security means while setting out commercial drones in U.S. air space. The company also disclosed their plans on working with NASA for the drone air traffic control system.

The company asserted that "50 customers across a colossal range of industries from agriculture, energy, forestry, and government" are taking up its platform. They have pulled up $11 million in funding from Intel Capital, Millennium Technology Value Partners, and several others.

SUNLIGHT PHOTONICSSunlight Photonics

Edison, N.J.-based Sunlight Photonics are the first manufactures of the commercially available drone that runs solely on solar power. Founded in 2008, the company had revealed the Sunlink-5 last May. It has reportedly pulled in $2 million in debt funding so far.
