Best Pivots By Internet Startups
Fremont: It may be a very common knowledge, but many of the websites, social networks and online services that we use today almost never happened. These companies were started with a different functionality and later made a dramatic change for the better. Without a well times pivots, they would have been a much different company from what we know today.
What we know today as Facebook was initially started as Facemash on October 2003. The site was comparable to Hot or Not and used photos complied from the online facebooks of nine houses, placing two next to each other at a time and asking users to choose the hotter person. Needless to say, Facebook is a much better place than just judging two pictures from being hot or not.
