Much before Twitter became a common name among us as an online social networking service and microblogging service; it was originally founded as Odeo, a platform to post, subscribe to and listen to podcasts. However, the founder’s found that Apple’s iTunes Store moved in to fill the central podcast discovery role. The founders spotted the need for change and pivoted from being a podcast service to being a quirky little messaging service.
The first Twitter service was used as an internal service for Odeo employees and the full version was introduced publicly on June 2006.
