Must Visit Indian Cities During Diwali

On the banks of Ganga—Varanasi:

The Holy city Varanasi is lit up with diyas and aarthis all throughout the year, as part of the daily rituals. It is even more so during Diwali. A constant stream of fireworks and crackers go off all night long giving a fabulous view of Ganges to the visitors. Other highlights include special Ganga Aarthis and diyas floating down the river forming beautiful sequences. A procession taken by Hindu deities is another sight to get hold of.

Not the Least-Home Sweet Home:

This is when the so called developed areas, the cities, bear a dry look. Dry because nobody stays in the tiny little apartments in the city. All the employees and students who reside in the city pay a visit to the countryside.

Indian family is where the real celebration takes place. And that’s where you get a real insight into the festival—women in the families do the special Laksmi Puja. That’s not it, traditional sweets, ethnic jewels and the colorful silk saris are something which you cannot escape falling in love with.
