Kailash Satyarthi - Father Of 80,000 Destitute Children

Attacked Several Times:

In a diverse country like India where even death is celebrated, it is sad to find evil forces which still do not welcome progress.

Kailash Satyarthi was beaten up at Ramganj Mandi, along with three other activists from the BBA, while elevating the issue for mass sexual exploitation of enslaved tribal girls and women. Adarsh Kishore, one of his fellow activists in BBA, was assassinated for acting against brutal acts on tribal women. Despite numerous death threats, he continued to work for his vision.

Ardent Follower of Gandhi and Buddha:

The Nobel Laureate was extremely influenced and inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and Gautam Buddha. He takes pride to be born in the soil where these great souls survived. Like Gandhi he identified child labor with unemployment and inequality. Education is regarded with high respect as it meant to be the only logical way towards progress. He propounded education because according to him, an enlightened mind results in wisdom and courage.

Globalised the Cause:

Beginning in 1986, BBA went ahead to expand its awareness in Nepal, Pakistan, South Africa, Latin America, U.S and Europe.

In 1993, he organized a 2000 km Bihar-Delhi march against child labor to increase public awareness, the first such campaign in India. Again in 1994, Bharat Yatra – 5000 km march was conducted from Kanyakumari to Delhi against child labor.

He also heads the South Asian Coalition on Child Servitude (SACCS) which assembles national and international institutions and Non Governmental Organizations to assert pressure on governments, manufacturers, and importers to stop exploiting illegal labor.
