Asian Games 2014: 5 Major Controversies

Tragedy Strikes Equestrianism: The equestrian competition back in 2006 was a tragedy for 47-year-old South Korean rider Kim Hyung-chil, who was killed.

The day was gloomy and rain had befell the place when his horse hit the smallest hurdle, throwing Kim off and the huge horse landed on his chest and head crushing it.

In spite of getting immediate medical attention, the father of two children lost his life. He was later buried in Korea's National Cemetery with honor and received the country's sporting medal.

Gender Test: Santhi Soundarajan was one of India’s prominent athletes winning over 11 international medals, but this glory was cut short and stripped off of her silver medal when she was found to have failed a gender test.

Santhi regularly took part in the 800m event, but after the incident she went into depression and was confided to her native village where she was working in a local brick factory. However, the Tamil Government came to her rescue and recognized her achievements. She is now serving as a qualified coach, a dream she has had for a very long time.
