Asian Games 2014: 5 Major Controversies


SockGate Claims:  The controversy that was most shocking for Asian Games competition was over a Taekwondo sock.

Taiwan’s Yang Shu-chun, was shocked to have been disqualified for have an unauthorized scoring sensors on her socks and due to which she stage a one hour long protest by sitting on the court.

The people of Taiwan were shocked and proclaimed it as a conspiracy against them, especially when China’s Wu Jingyu went on to win gold in the competition. Hopefully this kind of incident will not repeat itself in this year’s edition of the Asian Games.

India’s Cricket Boycott: It took many years before the game of cricket was added to the huge event, where India played a vital role in pushing for the decision. The problem arose though when India decided to pull out of the competition in the name of “prior international commitments”. This angered the committee.

Pakistan on the other hand as always wanted something to loathe over and voived that they would keep up the honor of the commitment they made. Unfortunately they were beaten by Afghanistan, who was later defeated by Bangladesh.
