Nripendra Misra: An Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1967 batch from the Uttar Pradesh cadre was one of the key men handpicked by Modi and selected to hold the top post at the PMO office. Principal Secretary directly reports to the sitting Prime Minister and he is supposed to be the key bureaucrat who is the link between the prime minister, senior ministers as well as the secretaries to the government. The principal secretary also plays a substantial influence on policy making.
Misra who is been credited for being an efficient, pro-business administrator has served as the telecommunications secretary under Dayanidhi Maran and is credited with the broadband policy to his name. He has also served as chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
