Spanair MD-82, 2008:

It was on the fateful day of 20 August 2008 when the Spanair MD-82 was crashed just after taking off from the runway of Barajas Airport. The aircraft was a McDonnell Douglas MD-82 scheduled passenger flight.

The Spanair’s crash took away the lives of 154 people with only 18 of the passengers surviving. The pilot was held responsible for the crash as he lost control of the aircraft immediately after the take off. This was believed to be the first and the only deadly accident for Spanair in the two-decade history of the company.

TAM Airlines Flight 3054, 2007:

A short-haul flight from Porto Alegre to Congonhas Airport at Sao Paulo, TAM flight 3054 crashed into a building after an aborted landing. It was a scheduled domestic passenger flight operating between Porto Alegre and Sao Paulo, Brazil on July 17th, 2007.

The Airbus A320-233 airliner flying this route overran the runway at Sao Paulo and crashed into a nearby TAM Express warehouse adjacent to a Shell filling station.

All 181 passengers-19 of them TAM employees-and 6 crew on board were killed, along with 12 people on the ground. It remains as the deadliest air disaster in Brazilian territory, and the deadliest aviation accident involving an Airbus A320 anywhere in the world.
