Air France Airbus A330, 2009:

A commercial flight operated from Galeao International Airport in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Charles de Gaulle International Airport in Paris, France, Air France Airbus A330 was crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on 1st June 2009.

The lives of 216 passengers and 12 crew members were lost in this tragic event.

The main cause of the crash of Airbus A330 is the after temporary inconsistencies between the airspeed measurements as the pitot tubes (pressure measurement instrument) which are used for measuring airspeeds were blocked by ice crystals and ultimately led the aircraft to crash. This crash was the deadliest in Air France’s history.

Yemenia Airways Airbus A310, 2009:

A twin engine jet airliner, Yemenia Airways Airbus A310 was managed by Yemenia. It was operating as an international flight from Sana'a, Yemen, to Moroni, Comoros. This twin engine Airbus was crashed before reaching to Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport on 30 June 2009. It killed 153 passengers and the crewmembers on board.

Bahia Bakari, a 12 year old, was the lone survivor who was found clinging to wreckage, after floating in the ocean for thirteen hours.

The crash took place off the north coast of Grande Comore in the Indian Ocean several miles from airport after an aborted landing. The weather was unfavorable during the time of the crash with the winds gusting at 64 km/h.
