8 Scientists And Their Ground Breaking Discoveries

Dr. Mansukh Wani (1920 – Present):

While working as a principle scientist at the Research Triangle Institute in North Carolina, Dr. Mansukh Wani co-discovered Taxol and Camptothecin to be anti-biotical drugs, which can fight against ovarian, breast, lung and colon cancers. Subsequently for his works on cancer treatment, he received several awards including Bruce F. Cain Memorial Award by the American Association, the City of Medicine Award given by the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce, the National Cancer Institute Award of Recognition.

Joseph Lister (1827 - 1912):

Joseph Lister was a British surgeon, also known as the father of antiseptic treatment. While working at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Lister introduced carbolic acid (widely known as phenol) based on the theories of Luis Pasteur in microbiology. Lister used carbolic acid to wash sterilize surgical instruments and to wash wounds to prevent infection.
