The Hindu devotees follow a 41 day ‘Vratham’, which begins with wearing a special mala. The devotees keep themselves away from any distraction such as non-vegetarian food, smoking, alcohol and so on. The hardship ends with the ‘darshanam’ of Sabarimala Ayyappa Swamy. In 2007, the religious gathering crossed around 5 million people.

Hajj is an annual pilgrimage for Muslims and is believed to be visited by every Muslim once in a life. Hajj serves as the Day of Judgment, where people believe that everyone has to stand before God. Over 3.16 million people attended this gathering to Mecca in 2012.
