Budget 2015: Key Things The Telecom Industry is Expecting

# Rationalization of taxes

Taxes are an imposed burden on the telecom industry and the government has been requested to lower it in the upcoming budget allocations. The industry is urging the government to look over the taxes and ensure burden-free growth of LTE and 3G in the country.

The industry also states that the levies in India are among the highest in the world and with tariffs as low as 0.5 paisa per second, the revenues are falling low and thus affecting investments in the telecom sector.

Telecom firms are paying up to 10 percent annual license fee, besides eight per cent spectrum charges and contribution towards Universal Service Obligation Fund as percentage of Adjusted Gross Revenue.
