India Ranks 3rd Among Countries With Richest People


Bangalore: While most of us dread the economic crisis, it did not have much effect on the ultra high net worth population in the world. The total population of the fortunate class has reached an all time high of 199,235 individuals with combined wealth of $28 trillion in 2013. There has been a significant increase of $2 trillion to their combined wealth from the previous year, reports Rediff.com.

According to a report in 2013 by Wealth-X and UBS World Ultra Wealth, there are about 2000 billionaires globally having a total net worth of $6.5 trillion, which is about 23 percent of the total wealth of world’s ultra high net worth (UHNW) individuals. Asia has about 42,895 UHNW individuals with combined net worth of about $6.3 trillion.

1. Japan

Total Wealth: $2,075 billion

Population of UNHWI: 12,830

After U.S. and China, Japan recognized as the third largest national economy in the world in 2012. Japan has been witnessing a consecutive growth in its GDP of about $5 trillion since 2012. Yen, the country’s currency also saw an increase by 3.3 percent.
