7 Outstanding Female Investors

Abigail Johnson - Investment Advisor

Johnson might be seen as getting the benefit of a relative handing down a powerful position to her but it is not so. She has scaled her way to the top of the firm. She earned her Master’s degree in management from Harvard and then went on to work at Fidelity. She started off as a customer care associate, then analyst and finally an equity portfolio manager for nearly 10 years before moving to top-level positions. Hailing from the family of the Johnsons of Fidelity Investments, having additional familial support did help her with her dreams. She is currently the investment advisor for Fidelity’s mutual funds division, is the Vice-chairperson of the Board and in the year 2011, became the Chairman of Fidelity Management and Research Co. One can never say that Johnson is solely reaping the benefits of her legacy. Fidelity is a trillion dollar ($3.5 trillion) firm and would never dream of giving it to an incapable person. Fidelity is a reputed firm in India as well. She has the weight of a mature and profitable firm on her shoulders and she is performing it diligently. Johnson indeed is a capable and talented woman to deserve the position she is at right now.
