7 Outstanding Female Investors

Muriel Siebert - Brokerage Founder

Siebert has such caliber that she was able to get an entry-level position in a finance company, even without possessing a college degree. With strong will-power and undying dedication, Siebert scaled to the height of partner at that firm. This gave her the necessary impetus to go forth with her own brokerage firm - Muriel Siebert & Co in the year 1967. Like any other woman investor, Siebert too faced the censorship of men at the inception of her firm. No man was ready to register Muriel Siebert & Co on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) as it was headed by a woman. Getting the required finances at that time became a Herculean task as well because men were apprehensive of her status as an investor.  Still, Siebert overcame all odds and championed her firm by making it the first woman-owned brokerage firm on NYSE. Her firm is also the only woman-owned brokerage firm in the entire nation on NYSE. She revolutionized her firm by converting it into a discount brokerage firm in 1975. Her move was regarded as such a taboo that her firm was almost on the verge of being ostracized by Wall Street.   Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) also disapproved her move and almost expelled her firm. Still, Siebert beat all odds and came through as a winner.
