2. Andhra Pradesh- 323, 400 crore

After splitting, Andhra Pradesh has recorded remarkable tax revenue collections recently. Since 2nd June separate tax accounts came into operation in both AP and Telangana and all VAT dealers were directed to remit taxes in their respective states thereafter.

Increase in revenue is being credited to many VAT-paying dealers in unified state and entities like AP Beverages Corporation Limited and oil companies paying a section of the tax in the new state. Previously, they used to pay it only in Hyderabad, reports the Times of India.

3. Uttar Pradesh- 296, 400 crore

Uttar Pradesh is one of the most populated and largest states in India and is famous for both tourist and religious destinations. Most of the revenue is generated from tourism and sugar mills.

There was time decades ago when the state was not able to generate enough revenue for paying the salaries to the state employees and today UP has written a exceptional story of fiscal transformation.

UP became the first state in the country to register growth in tax collection in the 1st year after introduction of VAT. The revenue is to be directed for the development of rural economy of Uttar Pradesh.
