While in Stanford, she taught Computer Programming. She also worked for a UBS Research Lab in Zurich, before joining SRI International in Menlo Park, California. When she completed her MS, she got offers from 14 companies. After an 8-hour discussion with her friend, she decided to join Google as Software Engineer in 1999, and became its 20th employee.
