Brief: The data of around 701,000 in-home support service providers was compromised by hackers in May this year. The data, that included social security numbers, addresses, contact details of the providers is supposed to be hacked during the transit between HP Processing center and the State Compensation Insurance Fund. The data was transited in a package that was found to be damaged on arrival.

11. University of Nebraska

People Affected: 650,000

Brief: In May this year, an individual hacker got access to the student database of the University of Nebraska and attained the information of more than 650,000 students, alumni, parents, employees, applicants. The breach was detected soon enough and was shut down within hours. The information included the personal and financial information of the parents and students who had applied for an admission.
