The per capita alcohol consumption of this hard-drinking nation is 145.5 litres.

Austria is a pure beer country and about 70 per cent of the alcohol is beer. Wine is preferred next and accounts to nearly a total of 22 per cent. Austria is a self-sufficient country when it comes to alcoholic beverages. Its per capita alcohol consumption is 169 litres and brewing is the most successful branch in Austrian alcohol production. The large scale production of wine, beer and distilled spirits always achieves the mark to easily cover and partly exceed the domestic consumption in Austria.
