Most Wickets in a Match
In the 1956, Manchester Test against Australia, Jim Laker, England’s off-break bowler took 19 wickets, the only bowler ever to touch this number. He took 9 for 37 in the first inning and 10 for 53 in the second, no blower has ever come close to beating this score. There have been plenty of 17 wickets in First Class cricket but not even an 18. In the1956 series Laker was the highest wicket-taker with 46 scalps. This incredible feat does suggests that the record will remain with Laker, like it has until now.

Muralitharan’s International Wickets
The Sri Lanka off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has set a world record of 800 Test wickets and 534 ODI wickets in his long career. Muralitharan’s achievement in Test cricket has set new benchmark in International cricket. When Muralitharan started playing Test cricket, the set record for highest wickets taken was sheer 431. With his fierce adherence to the game and efficiency to take wickets, he raised the bar, setting the records to an overreaching height where it can never possibly be touched.
