8. Cher Wang
Designation: Co-founder and Chairman, HTC
Also known as ‘Pride of Taiwan’, Cher Wang was one of the founders of VIA technology that makes semiconductor chips. She later laid the foundation of the now famous electronics manufacturer HTC.
Wang is the wealthiest person in Taiwan, with a net worth of $8.8 billion. Forbes has featured her in its list of 100 most powerful women. Recently, HTC is suffering losses but she has repeatedly ruled out selling off the company. Her share in the company stands at 3.8 percent.
9. Padmasree Warrior
Designation: Chief technology and strategy officer, Cisco
Indian born Padmasree Warrior in the early part of her career joined Motorola in 1984 and went on to become its chief technical officer (CTO). She joined Cisco in 2007 as its CTO. At Cisco, she oversees strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, integration of new business models, development of new technologies and nurturing talent.
Warrior marks her presence in the boards of Cornell University Engineering Council, Chicago Mayor’s Technology Council, Chicago’s Joffrey Ballet and Museum of Science and Industry. She maintains her Indian connect by being an advisory council of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
10. Sun Yafang
Designation: Chairman, Huawei
Since 1999 Yafang has been leading Huawei in her capacity as Chairman of board of directors. She joined the telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei in 1989 and worked her way up the ladder serving in various roles. The Chinese woman is credited for business expansion as well. Featuring in Forbes list of top 100 most powerful women, she has been the architect behind the management system for the company among others.
