Russia steals the sixth spot with most billionaires, even with all the tumbling of wealth that happened in global economy, last year. The total number of billionaires had increased by 17 in Russia last year. However, their total wealth has fallen by nearly 29 percent due to market crash. Vladimir Lisin, steel tycoon, is Russia’s richest man also faced a drop of $8.1 billion in his fortune due to the market instability, last year. According to Forbes, the lowered steel prices led to a 45 percent fall in the share prices of his firm Novolipetsk.

India is home to many billionaires, accounting up to 109 as of last year, in the world index. As one of the emerging economies the number of billionaires in India highlights the scale of wealth being created by the country. India is Asia’s third largest economy along with China and Japan which accounts for about 75 percent of the region’s ultra-rich population. Each of India’s billionaires is worth close to $1.7, on an average. However, they also lost nearly 6 percent of their total fortune, last year due to the volatile market. The other major factor behind the wealth decline is the depreciation in the Indian rupee.
