6.Chilka Lake
Chilka Lake is Asia's largest salt water lagoons separated from the Bay of Bengal in coastal Orissa. Covering an area of 1100 Sq km, the lake is a hot spot for bird lovers. It sustains a wide species of birds, both native and migrant.
There are many places of interest in Chilka. Nalabana is an island bird sanctuary located in the center of the lake and is a treat for the bird lovers in winter. The island is completely submerged in Monsoon months. Bird Island is another island for bird watching. Satapada is close to dolphin point. The endangered Irrawady and bottle-nosed Dolphins can be seen here. Coming to picturesque spots, Brahmaputra is known for its scenic beauty.
Chilka can be reached via Belugaon by buses and trains from the cities of Bhuvaneshwar and Cuttack. One may hire a taxi from Belugaon to reach Chilka.
