U.S. Business Groups Calls Indian Trade Practices 'Unacceptable'

In the letter to the U.S. President, NAM officials said, “We urge the U.S. government immediately to initiate bilateral engagement at the highest levels and to coordinate closely with the European Union and other like-minded economies. If this engagement is not fruitful, we ask the U.S. government to respond purposefully, using all available trade tools and diplomatic engagement,” as reported by Reuters.

NAM issued this letter to the President, just before Michael Froman, the White House International Economic Affairs Adviser was about to bear the witness to the Senate Finance Committee, while he was filing his nominations for the next term of service. Chances are there that Froman could be showered with arrays of questions regarding these trade imbalances between the two nations.

The U.S. Vice-President for International Economic Affairs, Linda Dempsey said that these types of practices should be dealt properly and the business leaders from the U.S. wants the Secretary of State, John Kerry to find a solution to this on his visit to India; Kerry is scheduled to visit India this month for high-level discussions.
