Hitachi is a Japanese multinational company, primarily based upon engineering and electronics. It is the parent of the Hitachi Group and forms part of the DKB Group of companies. Established in the year 1910, Hitachi is presided over Hiroaki Nakanishi, who is the current president of the company. Under the regional category, the company has grossed over $8 billion in terms of revenue. Hitachi is also one of the few companies that cover various segments across business platform.  Segments such as information and Telecommunication Systems, Electrical Systems, Social and Industrial Systems, Automotive Systems, Electronic Component Devices, Construction, and Financial services are all diversified under Hitachi.

In October 2012 Hitachi agreed to acquire the United Kingdom-based nuclear energy company Horizon Nuclear Power, which plans to construct up to six nuclear power plants across the world. Hitachi is also ranked 38th in the 2012 Fortune Global 500 and 129th in the 2012 Forbes Global 2000.
