These Countries Are Enemies of Internet

5. Cuba: Those who have different political views about Cuba’s regime argue online, according to the report, but the government makes sure that there are perpetual infrastructure problems that keep its population from accessing the internet. The government controls all computers that have access to the internet.

6. Iran: Iran, allegedly redirects those who want to visit anti-government websites to fake websites that look similar, but have pro-regime ones content. The country also slows down connection speeds and reduces the bandwidth allowed to citizens during election time and demonstrations by opposition.  Most of the time, such disruptions are followed by loss of cell phone networks in the concerned areas. Bloggers were sentenced to death in the country, and Hossein Derakshan, (known as the “father of the Iranian blogosphere”), received a prison sentence of 19.5 years.
