The Rise, The Fall, Then The Rise And Again The Fall of Phaneesh Murthy

Murthy Rises from the Ashes:

Just when everyone had thought Murthy to be done and out, he was again back to his best, that too within a year. He founded Quintant Services with Jaya as his partner, which later on in 2003 was acquired by California-headquartered iGate.

At iGate, Murthy was given the hectic task of turning iGate into a major global IT services provider, so that the company can take on the outsourcing biggies from India and the established giants in the US.

It took just 8 years for Murthy to run up the ranks, as in 2008 he became the CEO and president of iGate.  He was credited as the man behind transforming iGate from a no-where-to-be-seen company to one of the fastest growing enterprise.

Murthy Bites the Dust Again:

And then this happened. Once again Murthy got himself into trouble, again for the same reason. Murthy got sacked by iGate following an investigation into a claim of sexual harassment, surrounding a relationship that he had with a subordinate employee. The ongoing investigation has founded that Murthy’s failure to report this relationship violated the company’s policy as well as Murthy’s employment contract.

Even though Murthy had denied the allegations things aren’t looking good for this once well-praised business man.

Overall, these kinds of stories won’t do any good to the globally recognized Indian IT. More and more sex scandals and corporate scams have only made Indian IT bear bigger cones of shame.
