7. Tamil Nadu:

Tamil Nadu which is one of the most urbanized states of India is the second largest contributor to the country's GDP. The state has the second largest state economy in India with the highest number of business enterprises at 10.56 percent and stands second in total employment (9.97 percent).

The state is known as a ‘Transition Economy’ as it has a moderately high level of development. As per the IFC’s report, these transition economies have per capita GDP levels in the bracket of $800-925.  This state is a major software exporter and also has many heavy engineering and manufacturing companies, besides auto majors, which have established manufacturing plants in the state.

8. Punjab:

Punjab is proudly called as the 'Granary of India' since it is the leading single producer of wheat in the country. The largest industry in this state is agriculture and there are other major industries which include the manufacturing of scientific instruments, agricultural goods, electrical goods, financial services, machine tools, textiles, sewing machines, sports goods, starch, tourism, fertilizers, bicycles, garments, and the processing of pine oil and sugar. Punjab also has the biggest number of steel rolling mill plants. The state scores well as a transition economy and on factor conditions, business incentives, strategy, physical conditions income distribution and spending pattern.
