SiliconIndia's Startup of the Week: ChargeBee

Competitors in this vertical

“Zuora is the biggest player in the Subscription Billing space serving enterprise customers. There are also other players like Recurly & Chargify who started in the last few years. What helps us differentiate and address our set of customers is our focus on completeness of features & use cases to help them. Any specific customer sub-vertical like retail subscription we have taken up, we have ensured we complete the entire use cases around it, which our customers love. We will continue to focus on our core set of product roadmap and continue executing it, while ramping our customer base in retail subscriptions,” says Rajaraman S, a founding member of ChargeBee.

Entrepreneurship: A Viable Solution To The Indian Job Scenario

While other startups in the same vertical are doing their bit by focusing on their specialized services, what differentiates ChargeBee from these startups is the understanding of customer use cases and solving them completely.

“Though Subscription as a business model is a raging phenomenon in SaaS community globally and validated in various verticals, it is unfortunate that it is stifled in India due to regulation challenges. Many startups are spending precious time on solving a regulation problem with technology, when we should be focusing on solving business problems. In the context of India, I wish the regulation challenges are overcome sooner,” said Krish in the interview.
