Secret Revealed: 10 Interesting Facts You Didn't Know About Bond...James Bond!

2. Bond’s Birthday

May be the spy hardly gets to go on a vacation, but he would have never come into existence if his inventor Fleming didn’t bargain for two months vacation every year with his employer Kemsley Newspapers, owned by the famed London Sunday Times. His request was accepted and since 1953 until his death in 1964, Fleming wrote novels on Bond during his vacation at his Jamaican estate. Name of the estate? Goldeneye!

3. Shaken, Not Stirred

Vodka Martine-- shaken, not stirred! Every bar tender is ready to go with the drink as soon as bond shows up. But many of you hardly know that in Fleming’s original novel the spy prefers to have tipple Vesper Martini – part gin, part vodka and a touch of Lillet Blanc wine.

When the first Bond movie, Dr. No was about to start filming, Smirnoff wanted to promote their vodka and paid for it and therefore the gin was not mentioned and the iconic drink “Vodka Martine” came into existence.
